1. The farmer population began to dwindle away. This is because during the war, wheat was needed to send to the men in Europe. When the war ended, the demand for wheat was not as much needed. Also, people began moving to cities and became more dependent on stores and machines as apposed to farmers and self supplying.
2. While the men were away, women took over and gained a lot of independence. When the men got back from war, they remained in their position of power and started doing things that were maybe not very accepted at the time, such as driving and smoking.
3. Assembly lines were created for the war effort to send to the troops and after the war they continued as a means of consumer goods production.

1. This political cartoon shows that the constitutional rights went against the new ideas created by government and society after the war regarding the relationships with other countries. The man jumping through the window, representing the Senate is getting in the way of the marriage which is representative of the way the country views foreign policy.
2. They used personification to show the general unity of the U.S. to other countries in Europe as a merriment between the two.

1) Portrayed through the man crashing through the window, the metaphor is showing the U.S. senate interrupting the church service of Foreign Entanglements and Uncle Sam. The U.S. senate is holding the constitutional rights and by bringing those rights to attention, the cartoon is setting the metaphor of the rights being violated in the conjunction of foreign issues and our country due to the League of Nations.
2) The couple getting married personifies the U.S. and Foreign Entanglements, and it is shown this way because in WW1, America served as a helping hand in all of the foreign problems and fights. The League of Nations only encourages the marriage of the two more.
